Due to the inappropriate ratio of calcium and phosphorus in the pomegranate the metabolic bone disease may occur in bearded dragons. Osteoporosis or bone disease  is also due to the deficiency of calcium. 

The high sugar content 

It may cause obesity, diabetes, and tooth decay 

High level of oxalates 

Oxalate binds to calcium then prevents it from being absorbed in the Bearded Dragon’s bloodstream as phosphorus does. This can cause metabolic bone disease. Oxalates can reduce the calcium level in Bearded Dragons.

Possible side effects of oxalates

  • Bone development
  • Mobility lethargy
  • Eventual paralysis or death.

Can bearded dragons eat pomegranates regularly? 

It should not be eaten on daily basis. The bearded dragons can only eat it in a small amount and have it occasionally.

How to feed pomegranate to your bearded dragon?

Separate the Pomegranate arils from seeds, and feed it to your Bearded Dragon’s.
