Can Bearded Dragons Eat Frozen Fruits?

Bearded Dragons need vegetation and animal protein for their diet as they are omnivores. Fruits make up a very small portion of the overall diet of bearded dragons, but the question is, “Can Bearded Dragons Eat Frozen Fruits? Frozen fruit is a fine option for your bearded dragon’s diet.

While fresh fruits are more nutritious. Frozen fruits lack only a small amount of nutrients. Frozen fruits can be a refreshing treat for the Bearded Dragon during summer. The bearded dragons can eat each frozen fruit. Good frozen fruit options are mango, cherries, strawberries, and blackberries.

How to freeze fruits for bearded dragon

  • Simply take some fruits and place a Tupperware container in a bowl or cup.
  • Next, fill this container with water, so the fruits are just covered. Then place that container in a freezer and let the fruits be frozen.
  • Once frozen then, you can take out the small amount of fruit for the Bearded Dragon and place it in an enclosure.
  • While feeding your Bearded Dragon, it is very necessary to wash them entirely to remove the chemicals or pesticides.
  • Cut the fruit into very small pieces for your Bearded Dragon.

Frozen mangoes

Frozen mangoes can also be preserved by mixing preservatives, that prevent from spoilage. The preservatives are not good for the digestive system of Bearded Dragons.

Feeding frozen mango to Bearded Dragons can not harm them bay, but I would not recommend you to feed your Bearded dragons frozen mangos because feeding fresh food items to the Bearded Dragon is much better than the   frozen foods. There are many fresh fruit options to give to the Bearded Dragons instead of frozen mangos. Similarly, also avoid the dried mangos as they are not fresh and also contain much sugar. 

Frozen Blueberries

The bearded dragons can eat blueberries. It is not harmful for your beardie.

Frozen Strawberries

Frozen strawberries are hard as compared to the fresh one, and can also cause choking hazard therefore. In short, we don’t recommend to feed your Bearded Dragon frozen strawberries. If you are going are to use frozen berries, make sure that they are  thawed properly. If you are using fresh berries, wash them thoroughly to avoid your beardie from choking on any chemical or dirt.

Frozen cherries 

Frozen cherries are mostly safe for  your Bearded Dragon (if these contain no other added ingredients). You should thaw the frozen cherries to room temperature before feeding  them to your bearded dragon.

Blackberries

Frozen blackberries are also fine. However, be sure to thaw them first.

Can baby bearded dragons eat frozen fruits?

The frozen fruits are fine for bearded dragons, but we don’t recommend the frozen fruits for baby bearded dragons because they are little creature with sensitive digest system. The frozen fruits are hard as compared to the fresh fruits, so they may disturb the digestive system of Bearded Dragons. Instead of the frozen fruits you can feed a variety of fresh fruits and veggies to make sure that your Bearded Dragon is getting a well balanced diet.

Fresh fruits that the bearded dragons can eat:

Bearded dragons can eat peaches, figs, plums, apples, raspberries, watermelon, bananas, cherries, pears, papayas and mangoes. It is also advisable to keep the intake of fresh fruits less than or up to 10% of the total daily based diet of Bearded dragons. Apples, blueberries,  raspberries, papaya, strawberries, pear, and mango are among the nutritious and most beneficial fruits for bearded dragons.

The contain a good balance quantity of vitamins and nutrients. Your Bearded dragon can take these fruits once in a week.  Avocado and citrus should never be given to the bearded dragon. as citrus is vary acidic and avocados contain toxins that are harmful.

The fresh vegetables that the bearded dragons can eat

Vegetables and greens are a vital part of the Bearded Dragon’s diet. They make up to 75% of their diet. The following veggies are good options to feed:

Vegetables provide the Bearded Dragon with a lot of nutrients.
